ABOUT ME
I’m Eska Williams, a 25-year-old oil painter from South Wales, creating atmospheric paintings inspired by travel, places, and the feelings that come with discovering somewhere new.
I’ve been surrounded by art for as long as I can remember. Although I explored different forms of creativity throughout my life, I discovered oil painting during sixth form at the age of 17. I quickly fell in love with the medium and have been painting in oils ever since.
My work is heavily influenced by my experiences of travelling and the places I encounter along the way. I’m drawn to capturing more than simply what a place looks like — I want my paintings to convey its atmosphere, mood and sense of character.
My paintings are recognisable through their dark, moody palettes contrasted with warm, striking yellows. I enjoy exploring the relationship between light and shadow, using colour to create a feeling that sits somewhere between familiar and dreamlike.
Exhibitions
Art Below Summer Show — Ad Lib Gallery, Wimbledon, London | 2026
I was excited to exhibit my work as part of the Art Below Summer Show at Ad Lib Gallery in Wimbledon. Being able to bring my paintings to London and share them alongside a range of other artists was a really exciting experience and a great opportunity to introduce my work to a new audience.
Art Below — London Underground | 2026
In 2026, my artwork was selected to be displayed as part of Art Below in the London Underground station - Hyde Park Corner. Seeing my work displayed in such an iconic and busy setting was an amazing experience, and it was exciting to see my paintings reaching people who may never have encountered my work otherwise.
OPEN 26 — Queen Street Gallery, Neath | 2026
I exhibited my work as part of OPEN 26 at Queen Street Gallery in Neath. Exhibiting locally in South Wales was particularly meaningful to me as an artist, as the area is such an important part of who I am and where my practice has developed.
